Green aluminum transition – Opportunities and challenges for Vietnam’s aluminum industry
The global aluminum industry is accelerating its transition toward low-emission production in response to increasingly stringent carbon reduction requirements and growing demand for green materials. This trend presents opportunities for the development of the green aluminum market while introducing new requirements for metallurgical technologies, clean energy infrastructure, supply chain management, and compliance with international environmental standards.
At IBAAS–VFMSTA 2026, technical discussions covered the entire aluminum value chain, from bauxite mining and alumina production to low-emission aluminum smelting technologies, processing, and recycling. The conference also explored solutions for recovering strategic minerals, managing red mud, integrating renewable energy, and advancing digital transformation, with the aim of developing a circular value chain.
Against this backdrop, Stavian Industrial Metal’s presentation analyzed the outlook for the green aluminum market and demand across key application sectors, including automotive and automotive supporting industries, aerospace, transportation, the electrical and power-consuming industries, manufacturing, household and consumer products, and construction. The presentation also highlighted the opportunities, barriers, and requirements facing Vietnamese businesses as they seek to participate in the low-emission aluminum value chain, particularly amid increasingly stringent emissions regulations and trade requirements.
