STAVIAN INDUSTRIAL METAL CONNECTS AND STAYS AHEAD OF STEEL INDUSTRY TRENDS AT THE ASEAN STEEL FORUM 2026

From 21 to 23 September 2026, Stavian Industrial Metal Joint Stock Company (Stavian Industrial Metal), together with the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) delegation, participated in the 2nd ASEAN Policymakers Conference on Steel and the ASEAN Steel Forum 2026 in Manila, Philippines. Organized by the Southeast Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI), the event brought together representatives from government authorities, industry associations, and enterprises across the region to discuss the future direction of the ASEAN steel industry amid increasingly integrated regional supply chains, evolving international trade conditions, and a growing emphasis on sustainable development.

Expanding Connections and Updating Regional Market Insights

As part of the business mission, representatives of Stavian Industrial Metal and the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) delegation held a working session at the Embassy of Vietnam in the Philippines. During the meeting, the delegation exchanged views on market conditions, trade activities, and issues of concern to Vietnamese enterprises, gaining broader insights into the local business and trade environment.

Stavian Industrial Metal representatives also participated in B2B networking activities, engaging directly with international companies and partners on market developments, supply demand, and cooperation opportunities in the steel and industrial metals sector. These activities enabled the Company to stay up to date with market trends and proactively strengthen connections across the ASEAN steel and industrial metals supply chain.

Updating Steel Industry Transformation and Development Trends

This year’s Forum was held under the theme “Sustainability & Construction”, focusing on the issues shaping the regional steel industry, including policy developments, trade practices, trade remedies, technological innovation, green transformation, and the role of steel in infrastructure development.

The discussions highlighted the need to develop the steel industry in line with regional market demand and production capabilities, covering production scale, product mix, quality, and technology, while ensuring security and resilience across supply chains. The growing interconnectedness and interdependence of ASEAN economies were also recognized as key factors in strengthening the industry’s capabilities, promoting cooperation, and enhancing resilience in response to regional and global market changes.

A notable highlight of the Forum was the address delivered by Mr. Eduardo S.L. Oban Jr., National Security Adviser and Director General of the National Security Council of the Philippines, who emphasized the strategic importance of steel to national security and supply chains in an increasingly interconnected regional economy. The message “Let sustainability drive our competitiveness” was highlighted throughout the Forum, reflecting the increasingly close relationship between sustainable development and the competitiveness of the steel industry.

Developments discussed at the event indicate that the ASEAN steel industry is facing new shifts in trade, supply chains, technology, and sustainability requirements. As regional economic integration continues to deepen, the industry is also expected to strengthen cooperation, enhance adaptability, and ensure safer and more sustainable supply chains.
