On September 18, 2025, at Stavian Group’s headquarters in Hanoi, Stavian Industrial Metal Joint Stock Company (Stavian Industrial Metal) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with An Dong Shipbuilding Industry Joint Stock Company (An Dong Shipyards), opening up a strategic cooperation in shipbuilding and ship repair in Vietnam as well as in international projects.

Shipbuilding is a specialized industry that requires close coordination across materials, design, construction, repair and maintenance. Under the MoU, Stavian Industrial Metal will become the priority partner in supplying steel plates, structural steel, aluminum alloys and financial – equipment solutions directly supporting An Dong Shipyards’ shipbuilding and overhaul activities. At the same time, An Dong Shipyards commits to sharing project information, collaborating with Stavian Industrial Metal in developing financial and technical solutions, and jointly participating in tenders for domestic and international shipbuilding projects based on principles of transparency and efficiency.

In addition, both parties agreed to prioritize the development of international shipbuilding projects associated with low-carbon green steel – an inevitable trend in the global maritime industry as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) targets at least a 40% reduction in emissions by 2030. Leveraging its pioneering expertise in green industrial metals, Stavian Industrial Metal is committed to the stable supply of steel and alloy products that meet low-emission standards, thereby directly enhancing the competitiveness and reputation of shipbuilding projects undertaken by An Dong Shipyards.

An Dong Shipyards, a subsidiary of the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, possesses extensive experience in manufacturing, construction and ship repair, with state-of-the-art facilities and a team of skilled engineers and workers. Combined with the global supply chain network of Stavian Industrial Metal, inherited from Stavian Group and spanning over 100 countries and territories, the two parties establish a closed-loop value chain covering materials, processing, design, construction and maintenance. This synergy not only optimizes project costs and timelines but also creates opportunities for “Made in Vietnam” vessels to access large-scale international projects, gradually strengthening the global recognition of Vietnam’s shipbuilding industry.

The signing of the MoU between Stavian Industrial Metal and An Dong Shipyards serves as a testament to the transformation of Vietnam’s shipbuilding industry amid global integration. This partnership will contribute to strengthening the material supply chain, enhancing shipbuilding and repair capabilities and promoting sustainable development based on green technologies and materials. This represents an important step forward in affirming Vietnam’s shipbuilding industry’s position on the regional and global map./.
